CME Series 2008 launched under Macter’s
Clinical Excellence & Leadership
Program (CELP)

Keeping its tradition of facilitating
the medical professionals to keep abreast
with the rapid academic and professional
developments in the field of healthcare,
Macter International—a leading pharmaceutical
company of Pakistan—through its Clinical
Excellence & Leadership Program (CELP)
has launched a National CME Series (Jan-Dec
2008) for family physicians in collaboration
with Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi.
This
one-year certificate CME program—comprising
12 monthly sessions covering 16 key specialties
in 33 lecture units—will offer latest
updates on diagnosis and treatment of some
of the most important medicine and allied
topics and diseases seen by family physicians
on daily basis. Each CME session will be
held on the last Thursday of every month
at LNH’s main auditorium.
The inaugural session of the National
CME Series was held on 31 January 2008
at the main auditorium of Liaquat National
Hospital and was addressed by Hasan Imam
Kazmi, CEO, Liaquat National Hospital,
Haroon Ahmed Malik, Director and Head of
Commercial, Macter International, Dr Salman
Faridi, Consultant General Surgery and
former Medical Director, Liaquat National
Hospital, and Dr Zakiuddin Ahmed, Medical
Director, Macter International.
The
speakers lauded the Clinical Excellence & Leadership
Program (CELP) initiative and said that
it was a sign of Macter’s commitment
towards the academic and professional development
of the medical community. They expressed
hope that CELP would help inculcate an
invaluable partnership between Macter and
the doctor community to serve the patients
and society in a better and meaningful
way.
The first CME of the Series was focused
on Gastroenterology with Dr Parvaiz Ashraf,
Dr Jameela Ismail, Dr Qamarul Arfeen and
Dr Mansoor ul Haq as speakers who apprised
the participants on the latest developments
in disease management of hepatitis B and
C, peptic ulcer and GERD.
The session was attended by around 300
doctors from across Karachi and other cities.
A number of doctors from Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas,
Sukkur, Badin, Matli and Hub have also
registered themselves in the program.
