STERILE FACILITY

Macter is one of the very few companies in Pakistan which has installed state of the art Bausch and Strobel compact line for ampoule filling, 300 vials per minute, the Macofar compact line and the fully automated and integrated Plamasol (Aerosol) manufacturing and filling line. These machines are housed in a sterile room which is maintained at ISO Class 5 level. ISO Class 5 is an internationally accepted definition of air quality which requires that no more than 100 particles of size 0.5 micron or above should be present per cubic feet of air.
However, maintaining a Class 5 sterile room is a task which requires stringent controls and strict monitoring. A positive air pressure is maintained at all times so that no outside air can enter. Air is only made to enter through ULPA and HEPA filters with computer controlled dampers on supply and return ducts. At least 40 times every hour the air in the sterile room is replaced with 'clean air'. Entry and Exit buffers with air pressure differentials are maintained and staff have to wear sterile clothing. Microbiology tests are also conducted in the room. This is to ensure that no bacteria, fungus or pathogenic organisms are left. The air pressure, temperature, humidity & air quality (both particulate and microbial) are continuously monitored autometically and corrective actions, if necessary, are taken. Macter also has a new penicillin manufacturing facility in the construction phase, which is in compliance with the regulations and requirements of the Ministry of Health. This facility will manufacture oral dosages like tablets, capsules, dry syrups as well as injectable Penicillin. All this has contributed to make Macter one of the most sought after pharmaceutical manufacturer in the country.
