Dear
Colleagues,
As
Macter International Private Limited
launches this web site in August 2006,
I take opportunity to write a few words.
Medical
Professionals are expected to be at
least well-familiar, if not experts
in the Medical Computing Skills. This
is quite a contrast to few years ago
when having such knowledge was only
an advantage, not a necessity as it
is now.
Basic
Medical Computing Skills we need
to know:
-
Creating
Multimedia Medical Presentations
-
Medical
Word Processing
-
Creating
and Handling Medical Databases & Spreadsheets
-
Medical
Usage of Internet
-
Medical
Digital Photography
There
are other facets like Computer Assisted
Diagnosis, Tele-Medicine Clinics, Navigational
Surgery, Distance Learning Modules
etc. Mastering these skills enables
you to take real advantage of living
in the modern world.
The
Methodology of my Courses:
My
approach to delivering Medical Computing
Skills is focussed towards TASK ORIENTED
LEARNING. I believe that the
Medical Computing Skills are best taught
by a doctor as he would address only
the relevant areas of a Software. The
methodology I follow in my Courses
takes the doctors through steps of
specific tasks which are required in
our day to day computer based projects. I
focus on instructing formation of Medical
Applications, rather than teaching
mere software features. This
seems to keep the process of learning
relevant, interesting and less time
consuming.
The
Journey:
I
started Medical Computing back in 1989
as I entered Post-Graduate Higher Specialist
Orthopaedic Training in the UK. While
trying to find solutions to my own
Computer related problems, I discovered
ways to save time, yet add very professional
style in developing Medical Computing
Applications. Later on, I got
my Microsoft Certification and have
since been contributing to Medical
Computing Education across various
countries by instructing courses to
Medical Professionals from all fields.
Note
of Thanks:
I
am thankful to Dr.Zaki-ud-Ahmed,
the Medical Director of Macter International
and CEO of Smart Health Care International
as he has been instrumental in bringing
to Education Module to Pakistan. I
am indebted to Macter's Organization for
being the Exclusive Sponsor of these
courses in Pakistan as they have been
outstanding in showing an ever enthusiastic
approach to Continuing Medical Education
for Doctors in Pakistan. Another
contribution of Macter is the compilation
and launch of this web site which hopefully
will be a useful support to the courses.
I
wish you best on the current course
series in Pakistan which commences
from 19th August 2006 at the advent
of Health Asia 2006 in Karachi.
